The woman behind the name
after Marion Hollins
Marion Hollins (1892–1944), the 1921 U.S. Women's Amateur champion and a visionary of golf course design, served as architect Alister MacKenzie's trusted surrogate during the building of Augusta National. "I do not know of any man who has sounder ideas," he said of her. Her painting hangs in the room that bears her name. (Draft — full biography to come.)
